Charles Greville Morris R.B.A. (1861-1922) - Sold

Haunt of Coot and Heron - Sold

One of the very finest recorded examples of the work of important English landscape painter Charles Greville Morris.  Executed on an impressive scale, beautifully painted and with a wonderful and highly atmospheric subject the painting fully demonstrates the artist's extraordinary ability as a landscape painter.  The painting has a wonderful provenance having been exhibited at the Royal Academy's One Hundred and Thirty-Eighth exhibition in 1906, with the original handwritten exhibition label verso.  The frame with a plaque lower center inscribed 'by W. Bro Greville Morris' - the 'W. Bro' for Worshipful Brother (the masonic rank).  The painting is presented in it's original exhibition frame and both painting and frame are in excellent condition.  The painting is signed lower right.
